The City of Paris launches the third edition of its “Embellish your neighborhood” program

The works in Paris are never over. After two first acts launched in 2021 and 2022, the City of Paris is starting consultations for the third wave of the “Embellish your neighborhood” program.

This approach consists of “retouching” the entire capital, district after district, with the participation of citizens and district town halls. The promise of assured tranquility for a few years continues to gain ground.

Nine new neighborhoods

After an “exceptional” first season which concerned 17 districts, a good part of which concentrated on the center of the city, and a second season which was to find a cruising speed in nine districts of the more peripheral districts, the Town Hall presented the beneficiaries of this new edition: North Opera sector (Paris center), Anvers-Montholon-Pigalle-Martyrs (9th – 18th), Croulebarbe (13th), Didot-Porte de Vanves-Pernety (14th), Vaugirard (15th), Muette (16th) ), Porte de Montmartre (18th), Flandres-Aubervilliers (19th) and Amandiers-Belleville (20th).

The launch of these campaigns, which stretches from March 20 to May, except for the 14th arrondissement which will wait until December (see table), begins with a diagnosis carried out on these territories which will give rise to presentations in meetings public. Two months later, public consultations via the platform decide.paris.fr of the Town Hall and exploratory walks in these different neighborhoods will follow.

The dates for the new “Embellish your neighbourhood” campaign have been revealed – Mairie de Paris

After a few months of studying the ideas and suggestions received, the Town Hall will present a master plan for each of the districts, before launching the technical studies which will finally lead to around eighteen months of work. To simplify, Jacques Baudrier, deputy mayor of Paris in charge of public construction, monitoring of construction sites and coordination of work on public space, promises the end of this work before the end of the mandate, i.e. 2026 , with the exception of certain large-scale projects: “Those whose investments exceed one million euros. »

The work already started completed for the Olympic Games

There is no doubt that the budget invested will still be significant in view of the previous envelopes of 95 million (2021) and 55 million euros invested (2022). After more than 2,300 contributions recorded for the second edition and 11,646 votes, Jacques Baudrier still hopes to arouse the enthusiasm of Parisians for this new campaign and emphasizes the good cooperation with the district town halls on the projects already underway. “Everyone we meet asks us the same things: greening even more and calming the city by reducing the place of cars. »

The elected official took the opportunity to take stock of the second phase of the program, the consultations of which end in March: “All the work undertaken should be completed before the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.” Jacques Baudrier, however, notes a point of improvement by noting a lack of explanatory panels, responsible for explaining the reason for the work on the sites concerned.
