Business trips are still a status symbol in Germany. According to a survey, one in three respondents would even quit if they were no longer allowed to travel for work. But is constantly being on the move still appropriate?
Few things provide as much information about the state of a society as advertisements. And while these days the three letters “m/f/d” are intended to show that employers have arrived in the 21st century, a postscript in the same advertisements often shows that this does not necessarily apply to employees. “Company car” is still regularly used in job advertisements for electrical engineers and butlers. Maximum mobility, made possible by the employer, is important to Germans. This is also suggested by a survey that says one in three respondents would quit if they could go on business trips less.
