Mira and the flying house

open.spotify.com

Mira and her friends MC Pieps the mouse and the clever cat Copernicus find brushing their teeth “crumbly”, meaning stupid, boring, even stupid. To make things more fun, the three think of a card game. One map says what to do, others where and how. This is what comes out: brushing your teeth in the laundry basket and in slow motion! The nightly ritual becomes fun. The three friends live together in the flying house, where Mira plays the magic piano, they celebrate parties in the attic or build a space rocket. In the motley everyday life, there is also a bang between the three of them. The author and musician, who only appears here as Mira, writes her stories directly from real life. She analyzes great feelings, self-love and diversity in a child-friendly way. The podcast is suitable for children between the ages of four and eleven, but adults can also listen in a relaxed manner and be inspired. Lilly Brosowsky

laugh lab

br.de

Can animals whistle? Can birds be struck by lightning in mid-air? Can you jump on Marshmallows trampoline? In the podcast laugh lab, produced by Bayerischer Rundfunk, Mischa Drautz and Tina Gentner answer questions that make you jealous as an adult because you can’t think of them yourself. But it’s not just the questions that are great, but also the answers – or rather: the way there. The moderators take a step back each time, dissecting the question. What actually happens when you whistle? What do you need for that? You talk about these sub-questions and answers with children and experts, so that in the end you have learned much more than just a “yes” or “no”. Kathleen Hildebrand

Good night with the mouse

wdrmaus.de

“After an exciting day, it’s sometimes difficult to calm down.” True words, for big and small. And that is precisely the quality of the mouse, it has always belonged on television and now also as a sleep podcast to the children’s formats that adults also tolerate well. When a kindergarten child tells in the podcast how mom always says in the morning that it has to be quick now, that’s just sweet. The themes are chosen to be realistic (celebrating birthdays, salty things, dawdling) and lovingly edited with lots of music. The episode about dawdling starts with a suitable song: “We have to go in five minutes, mom is looking for the car keys, dad is packing the bags.” It’s almost too groovy and catchy to calm down. But firstly, there are worse things than good children’s music, and secondly, the roughly 20-minute episodes follow a coherent dramaturgy in the direction of: good night. Aurelie von Blazekovic

The Detective Agency Frederick

open.spotify.com

Who is the boss of the two? Well, Mario almost certainly not. Otherwise the detective agency would be named after him and not after his partner Frederick. Even with the partnership is such a thing. It would require a certain amount of mutual consideration. With Mario and Frederick it’s more of a one-sided affair. Frederick is cheeky, impudent and self-centered – these are not the best prerequisites for strong social skills. Still, he’s a pretty cool dude. And so Mario van Velsen and his turtle hand puppet Frederick solve a case in every episode. It’s always exciting, but above all funny. This is particularly important to Frederick. Because he is not only a talented detective, but also a gifted joke teller. At least he thinks so. Stephen Fisher
