Work on the highly anticipated sequel to “The Batman” is progressing well, as director Matt Reeves has now revealed.
Work on the sequel to “The Batman” (2022) is apparently progressing. Director Matt Reeves (58) confirmed to “SFX Magazine” According to a “Collider” report, the script for “The Batman – Part II” is already well advanced. The script is currently being completed. The 58-year-old added that “the plan is to shoot next year.” Warner Bros. had already postponed the film’s release date by a year to October 2026.
The penguin is also part of the second part
Matt Reeves also confirmed that Colin Farrell’s (48) villain “Penguin” will return in the sequel. The new series “The Penguin” (from September 20th on Sky and Wow) will apparently lead up to this. “There are details that tie in directly with the beginning of the next film,” explains the director about the connection between the TV show and the feature film. Matt Reeves also gives his first hints about the plot of “The Batman II,” in which Robert Pattinson (38) is back in the lead role as the Dark Knight.
It is said to provide further insight into the tangled web of corruption in Gotham. According to “Collider”, the filmmaker said the film will deepen “the epic story” about corruption and delve into areas not seen in the first part. “Batman is constantly fighting against these forces, but these forces cannot be completely eradicated,” Reeves further hinted.

A sequel to the film “The Batman”, which was released in spring 2022 and was acclaimed by audiences and critics, was announced at CinemaCon in April 2022. In January 2023, it was announced that the film would be called “The Batman – Part II”. Filming is scheduled to take place in England next year.
