The Assembly office takes the case of Aurore Bergé to court, accused of false testimony

Accused by left-wing deputies of “false testimony”, Aurore Bergé will face justice. The office of the National Assembly decided on Wednesday to take the case of the former Macronist minister to court, accused of “false testimony” for having rejected before a commission of inquiry any personal link with a lobbyist for private nurseries, we learned from parliamentary sources.

The “request for the initiation of criminal proceedings” against Aurore Bergé, now a member of Parliament for the Republic, was validated by 10 votes “for” and nine votes “against”, during a vote by the office, a dominated executive body. by the left, these sources specified.

A “non-aggression pact” between Aurore Bergé and Elsa Hervy

The rebellious and environmentalist parliamentarians who are requesting this procedure are basing themselves on remarks made on April 30 by Aurore Bergé before a parliamentary commission of inquiry on the “economic model of crèches”. Under oath, she affirmed that she had no “personal, intimate or friendly connection, nor any acquaintances” with the general delegate of the French Federation of Daycare Companies (FFEC), Elsa Hervy.

However, in his investigative book The Ogres (ed. Flammarion), on the excesses and the “voracity” of certain groups deprived of crèches, the investigative journalist Victor Castanet evokes a “non-aggression pact” which would have been concluded between Aurore Bergé, at the time when she was Minister of Families (July 2023-January 2024), and Elsa Hervy.

Aurore Bergé filed a defamation complaint

Aurore Bergé indicated last week that she had filed a defamation complaint after the publication of these revelations. For his part, Victor Castanet made public documents showing, according to him, “that there was an agreement between Aurore Bergé and Elsa Hervy to smother the fire”. One of these documents is an email, sent on August 8, 2023 by the minister to her chief of staff, in which she says about Esla Hervy: “She is above all a friend 🙂 She will be very helpful to me “.

After these revelations, and Wednesday’s vote, “Aurore Bergé will have to be held accountable for having lied to the national representation,” the head of the rebellious deputies, Mathilde Panot, said on X. “We don’t pal around with lobbies who mistreat children when we are minister in charge of early childhood,” she added.

The ex-minister must now “be able to defend himself against these accusations in court rather than on TV sets”, commented the environmentalist deputy Emmanuel Duplessy. For Aurore Bergé, the New Popular Front “unsurprisingly decided once again to submit to LFI” and its “unfounded demand” against it. “The left continues its political and democratic shipwreck,” she lamented.
