The “absences” of Sandrine Rousseau, vice-president of the university, do not go unnoticed

“I had a busy schedule, but I was not absent. Sandrine Rousseau’s response is scathing. The recent candidate for the primary of EELV, also vice-president of the University of Lille, in charge of the daily life of the students, hardly appreciated the recent poster campaign of which she was the target, on two university campuses .

The student union Solidaires had not hesitated to publish a “missing person alert”, with his photo and his age, reproaching him “for not being interested in students for several weeks” and for having deserted his post to take part. in the campaign of primary environmentalists. Campaign at the end of which she was narrowly beaten by Yannick Jadot for the presidential election.

Noticed absences

“Since the start of the school year, she has spent more time on television sets than in her college office. It has neglected the students who are however more and more numerous to find themselves in precariousness ”, regrets Niel, of Solidarités students. According to our information, her absence was especially noticed during the 45 Jive (Student Life Immersion Day) organized at the start of the school year in the various departments of the university, while she is in charge of it.

“It is true that I was very busy with the electoral campaign during the month of September,” admits the person concerned. But I was present non-stop at the university until the end of July. “Denouncing in passing the methods of the union:” Using the same poster as for the disappearance of children is an abject process. The university legal department advised me to file a complaint. I won’t, but I was very shocked. “

According to the union, “this method had the merit of obtaining the appointment” that it demanded “since the start of the school year”. A date that, however, did not get things done. “We ask Sandrine Rousseau and the CROUS to put pressure on requisitioning housing for hundreds of students”, underlines Niel. “I am not in charge of housing, it is the Crous”, defends the ecologist.

“Facade radicalism”

But the tension between the vice-president and the Solidarités union seems to be the tree that hides the forest. Because Sandrine Rousseau obviously does not only have friends among her university colleagues. Apart from his “repeated absences”, some accuse him of a “facade radicalism”, as reported the Médiacités information site, evoking in particular on his non-positions on the administrative and financial evolution of the university.

The latest example is the creation of an experimental public establishment (EPE) in Lille, a merger of the University of Lille and four grandes écoles, to obtain grants. Project – considered liberal by a large part of academics – to which she has never publicly expressed opposition.

“It’s a political debate and I’m comfortable with that,” says Sandrine Rousseau. If I had been president, this is a decision I would not have made. I am not. But the university is dying for not having the money and I refuse to take responsibility for seeing it sink even further. “

Contacted to find out how the absences of its vice-president are managed internally, the University of Lille did not follow up.
