The 71-year-old is said to have threatened politicians with murder in letters – Bavaria

In some cases he even threatened murder: A 71-year-old from Lower Bavaria is said to have sent diabolical letters with dubious content to politicians and employees of the authorities. The police said on Thursday that there were several dozen letters that had been sent since summer 2020. Such letters were also sent to private individuals. In it, the man from the northern district of Straubing-Bogen threatened or insulted the recipient. “It is really bad abuse,” said a police spokesman. “For example, the district administrator, several mayors and we as the police were affected.” In some of the letters he is said to have threatened to kill the recipients.

The letters were partly anonymous, but partly with the names of actual or fictitious persons as senders. The man did not agree with many regional decisions. The police spokesman could not initially say whether the 71-year-old also sent the letters because of corona measures. After intensive investigations by the Straubing police force and the Regensburg public prosecutor’s office, the 71-year-old was reportedly identified as the alleged author. Police raided the man’s property on Wednesday. The officers found a sealed, unaddressed letter. It was said to be similar to the previously known letters.
