At the age of eight, Martina Kühnel began to comfort herself with food and slipped into a chronic eating disorder. It took four decades to get well again. Today she knows how it came to this and has important advice for all parents.

Apples, pears, red peppers, carrots and cucumbers. These five foods were on the list. A nutritionist had asked me to write down all the foods that I thought were forbidden. I said: “I’d rather write down what’s allowed, then we’ll be done faster.” That was in 2016.
