I was asked to write a commentary on the outcome of the elections in Hungary “from the point of view of the cultural scene”. I replied: I can’t, but one from the perspective of the villager that I am in Hungary. Because: Here in the country, the Hungarian elections will be won or lost. Most recently, the opposition had found hope, as Fidesz lost 16 of the 18 county capitals and Budapest to the opposition in the 2020 local elections. Fidesz was not pleased, but it could also more or less not matter. Because, see above: the music plays in the country.
