Telmont – Leonardo DiCaprio invests in champagne – economy

Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio has acquired a stake in French champagne maker Telmont. This was announced by the company’s majority owner, Remy Cointreau, on Wednesday. Founded in 1912, the company intends to focus more on sustainability in the production and distribution of its champagne in the coming years. “Champagne Telmont is committed to radically reducing its environmental footprint, from protecting the biodiversity on its land to using 100 percent renewable electricity, which makes me proud to be an investor,” DiCaprio said. Traditional luxury brands are increasingly trying to appeal to a younger clientele through partnerships with stars. For example, the Louis Vuitton group LVMH recently bought into rapper Jay-Z’s champagne brand. US singer Beyonce is meanwhile involved in the sports brand Ivy Park.
