No TV evening in Germany without countless thrillers. Actor Matthias Koeberlin plays a TV investigator himself and finds himself fascinated by the crime.

Actor Matthias Koeberlin (“Die Toten vom Bodensee”) has noticed an “incredible glut” of crime thrillers on television. “Meanwhile, one has the feeling that entire areas must be depopulated because everyone was murdered,” he told the German Press Agency in Cologne.

But Germany is not alone in this – the Scandinavians are also enthusiastic about crime fiction, as are the English. “There’s just a great fascination with horror and crime,” said the 48-year-old. “I don’t know where that comes from. My private interest in it is clear.”

Koeberlin is an experienced television investigator himself. He plays a leading role alongside Alina Fritsch in the ZDF crime series “Die Toten vom Bodensee”. On Monday at 8:15 p.m., ZDF will show a new episode entitled “Nemesis”.
