Love-hungry and argumentative: that’s what “Love Island” is known for. Some names will be familiar to TV viewers in the new season.

Drama and flirting are back: The reality show “Love Island” is presenting a VIP edition for the first time. 19 celebrities, some of whom have already taken part in the dating show, fight for attention, money and romance. RTLzwei will be showing the whole thing from October 24th on Thursdays at prime time at 8:15 p.m. on linear television, after which the episodes will be available on the streaming platform RTL+.

“Love Island” is something of a starting point for people who want to establish themselves as reality stars and influencers. They are often seen in other reality formats afterwards. Presenter Sylvie Meis is presenting the show again.

Well-known names

If you read through the list of reality stars who are taking part, there is potential for escalation. There are star performers like Gigi Birofio, who has long since fought his way up the reality career ladder to the RTL jungle camp.

Anyone who has watched “Love Island” in recent years will also find this combination interesting: Melissa Damilia – who was also RTL’s “Bachelorette” – meets Danilo Cristilli in Greece. In season three, he bounced back and forth between her and another candidate. Melissa cried, endured, fought – and ultimately came up short.

Sometimes it lasted beyond the show

The rules of the show: The candidates spend several weeks in a villa with a pool and get to know each other. There are so-called mating ceremonies in which either the men or the women choose the opposite sex and then form couples who also have to sleep in the same bed.

One by one, Islanders are eliminated and new ones join. The candidates play for 50,000 euros. There have been isolated cases where Islanders’ relationships have lasted beyond the end of the show.
