Teddy bear stolen from memorial for deported Jews – Bavaria

A bronze teddy bear, which was supposed to commemorate the Jewish families who were abducted and murdered from Lower Franconia, was stolen by an unknown person from the “DenkOrt Deportations” in Würzburg. As the police reported on Friday, the teddy bear was forcibly separated from the memorial between Monday evening and Wednesday afternoon and taken away. The damage is estimated at several thousand euros.

The “DenkOrt Deportations” is a memorial for the citizens of Lower Franconia who were deported to the extermination camps by the National Socialists between 1941 and 1944.

The memorial consists of several pieces of luggage made of stone, wood and concrete, which are symbolic of the fate of the victims. One of the pieces of luggage was a bronze teddy bear, which has now disappeared without a trace.
