Taylor Swift played her first concert in Germany. Her partner Travis Kelce was also in the stadium, but did not take the stage.

The city of Gelsenkirchen prepared meticulously Taylor Swift’s (34) performance on the evening of July 17th – the first of seven German concerts as part of the singer’s “The Eras Tour”. Shortly before 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening, the time had come: After the opening act Paramore had played, the pop superstar took the stage at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen. Swift greeted her numerous fans in German with the words: “Welcome to the Eras Tour. Good evening.”

Over the next three and a half hours or so, the usual “The Eras Tour” setlist followed with slight modifications – after all, Swift has been on her major world tour since March 2023, which takes in all of the singer’s musical eras. During the course of the concert, she performed hits such as “Cruel Summer,” “Shake it off,” and “Fortnight,” the first single from her new album “The Tortured Poets Department,” which was released in April.

There was great anticipation as to whether Swift’s partner, NFL star and Super Bowl winner Travis Kelce (34), was in the audience. And indeed, photos and videos of the athlete, who initially watched the action in the Veltins Arena from a box, appeared on social networks. Kelce attended Swift’s concert for the 13th time, wearing a green and black checked shirt and a white baseball cap. However, this time – unlike at London’s Wembley Stadium – the 34-year-old was not drawn to the stage.

Singer Swift, meanwhile, performed her famous surprise songs in front of over 60,000 enthusiastic spectators towards the end of the evening. She chose “Superstar” and “Invisible String”, as it says in the live ticker of the “Westfälische Nachrichten”. After tonight’s show, Swift will play two more shows at the Schalke Arena – on Thursday (July 18) and Friday (July 19). After that, she’ll head to Hamburg for performances on July 23 and 24 and Munich for shows on July 27 and 28.
