Taylor Swift was nominated six times – and she won six times. With a whopping 40 trophies, the singer now has more AMA awards than any artist before her.

US superstar Taylor Swift once again caused a stir at the 50th American Music Awards. The 32-year-old was nominated six times and won all six awards, including in the top category “Artist of the Year”.

Swift also received awards for best pop singer, best country singer, best music video (“All Too Well: The Short Film”) and best pop album (“Red (Taylor’s Version)”). That she even appeared on stage herself was a surprise. Beforehand, the musician had not said whether she would go to the awards or not. With 40 trophies to date, Swift has received more AMA awards than any artist before. In doing so, she once again improved on her own record of 34 awards.

The most nominated Latin star Bad Bunny, on the other hand, only won in two out of eight possible categories. He won Best Latin Artist and Best Latin Album awards.

Maneskin, the Italian ESC winners from 2021, were able to look forward to a trophy for the best rock song (“Beggin”) after going empty-handed last year.

The American Music Awards are – along with the Grammys, for example – one of the most important awards in the US music industry. They are awarded in categories such as pop, country, hip-hop, rock and R&B. The nominations are based on the musicians’ album sales figures, and fans can vote for the winners online.
