Speeding accident in Berlin: Another passenger died after the accident on Tauentzienstrasse. The investigation is ongoing.

After the serious speeding accident with two fatalities near Berlin’s Ku’damm, the Public prosecutor’s office for negligent homicide. An illegal car race is also being investigated, said a spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office.

The investigators assume that the car was “racing alone” and was traveling too fast. According to initial police findings, no other vehicle was involved. An 18-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man were killed in the accident on Tauentzienstrasse in western Berlin’s inner city early Wednesday morning.

The 27-year-old succumbed to his injuries in a hospital on Thursday, police said. The 18-year-old had already died at the scene of the accident. A 20-year-old and a 25-year-old were also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

First responders also injured

The four were driving their car at high speed on Tauentzienstrasse near Ku’damm. It was initially unclear who was behind the wheel. The car is said to have skidded and crashed into a concrete wall. It turned 180 degrees and caught fire. Witnesses began to put out the fire.

According to the police, two emergency workers suffered from smoke inhalation and were taken to hospital. According to the fire department on Platform X, one passenger was able to escape from the burning car with serious injuries. Two people were trapped in the vehicle and were freed. Five first responders were also slightly injured and treated on site.
