A negotiating team around Lindner had recommended the start of coalition negotiations after the basic features of a future so-called traffic light coalition had already been negotiated in an exploratory paper last week. The other two parties have already agreed.
Wissing: Failure “not an option for us”
FDP general secretary Volker Wissing said that morning that coalition negotiations with the SPD and the Greens would be successful. When asked about a possible failure, Wissing said that NDR: “This is not an option for us.” You need a stable federal government. He is confident “that we can do it”.
Wissing described discussions about possible appointments in a traffic light government as premature at the present time.
