SZ Podcast “On the Point” – News from March 14th, 2022 – Politics

Video recordings from Moscow show the same scene over and over again: Darkly hooded Russian police officers, with heavy helmets and bulletproof vests, grab a person’s feet and arms and carry him away. Sometimes it’s a young man, sometimes an older woman with a headscarf. They demonstrate against the war in Ukraine. But there are no recordings of what happened to those who were carried away afterwards. Who are the people who dare to demonstrate right now? This is what Sonja Zekri, former SZ Russia correspondent, talks about.

“One of the most bizarre scenes was: A woman just holds up a piece of white paper and is already being carried away,” says Zekri. “That shows Putin’s full-fledged paranoia, if you will.”
