On Thursday morning Russia started a war against Ukraine. Can NATO still do anything for Ukraine? And what does the war mean for the eastern NATO countries like Poland or Hungary? Hubert Wetzel, SZ correspondent for the USA, talks about this: “Militarily, it is completely impossible for the West, NATO or the USA to intervene in Ukraine.” It would be different in the case of Russian aggression against NATO members. “The question is,” says Wetzel, “whether Putin is willing to take such a high risk that he actually risks a conflict with NATO.”
