SZ health forum on type 1 diabetes in children and adolescents – Munich

Type 1 diabetes is the most common metabolic disease in childhood and adolescence. The trend is increasing, with children under the age of five the number of new cases growing by around six percent each year. SZ science editor Christina Berndt will talk to experts on April 17 about new diagnostic and treatment options. This is because the autoimmune disease can now be diagnosed at an early, symptom-free stage.

Preventive therapy can then delay the onset of the disease. A person who has been affected since childhood will also talk to the filmmaker Bastian Niemeier about how he deals with the disease. Questions to the guests can be sent in advance by email to [email protected].

“SZ Health Forum: Diabetes in Children”, online event, Monday, April 17, 7:30 p.m., free of charge, registration for the live stream is required at sz-erleben.sueddeutsche.de
