Suspicion of left-wing extremism: searches in Nuremberg – Bavaria

In a concerted operation, five men and one woman were searched in Nuremberg on Wednesday on suspicion of membership in a left-wing extremist criminal organization. The accused are between 22 and 34 years old, said the Bavarian Central Office for Combating Extremism and Terrorism (ZET) at the Munich Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The men and the woman are said to have joined militant left-wing extremists. With graffiti slogans sprayed on buildings and local trains in the greater Nuremberg area, they called for the killing and injury of right-wing extremists, the statement says. They also denigrated and threatened key witnesses in criminal proceedings and investigating police officers.

During the searches of the accused’s apartments, which were carried out on orders from the Munich Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Munich District Court, “extensive evidence, in particular cell phones, other data carriers and documents,” was seized and was now being evaluated, it said.
