Suspicion of corruption: raid on real estate group Vonovia

From

Björn Finke, Klaus Ott and Jörg Schmitt

The image of the Vonovia real estate group is not exactly the best. Which other of the 40 DAX companies has already had a referendum against it that calls for its expropriation? The group from Bochum has bought up competitors in recent years – most recently against great resistance, the rival Deutsche Wohnen from Berlin – and has thus become Europe’s largest landlord. In Germany alone, Vonovia owns almost 490,000 apartments. This sheer size makes the group powerful, not only in the housing market, but also in the construction industry.
