Supreme Court includes Bolsonaro in Brasília rampage probe

The former Brazilian president is suspected of being one of the “instigators and moral authors” of the looting that took place within national institutions in the capital a few days ago.

A judge of Brazil’s Supreme Court announced on Friday January 13 that it included the far-right former president Jair Bolsonaro in the investigation of the ransacking of places of power in Brasília on January 8.

The public prosecutor’s office had previously asked the Court to submit the former head of state to investigations to clarify his role in the assault, by thousands of Bolsonarist demonstrators, of the Supreme Court, the presidential palace and Congress in the capital city.

Jair Bolsonaro, who has been in the United States since late December, is to be investigated as he is suspected of being one of the “instigators and moral authorsdepredations within national institutions in the capital, a week after the entry into office of the left-wing head of state Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, explains the prosecution in a press release.
