Summer in Munich: the city wants to allow more city beaches – Munich

In the future, green spaces outside the old town ring road can also become event locations in summer. If you want to apply, you need a concept for culture, the environment and noise protection – and you have to hurry.

Sitting in the open air with a beer and music in your ears is a great way to endure summer in the city. Such moments could be experienced in the past, for example, on the city beach on the Cornelius Bridge or in the beer garden in Nußbaumpark. Such temporary venues have to be approved every year and the organizers are worried. The city has now decided that such “cultural and beach events in green areas and on public transport” can generally be carried out outside the old town ring road and has laid down guidelines for this.

CSU and Free Voters want to charge fees

Organizers have until February 28 to submit their concepts for 2023 to the district administration department. For example, the time frame from the beginning of May to mid-September must be observed. In addition, the plans must take local residents into account, and take noise protection and environmental aspects into account. In addition, it is important to come up with a convincing cultural offer. This could then be decisive for the award if several organizers want to occupy the same place at the same time. The “great advantage” of the new guidelines is that the administration can examine the concepts in this way.

With the policy decision, the city wants to encourage organizers to also use urban locations that are a little out of the way – and to counteract complaints at an early stage. The first objection, however, came immediately from the parliamentary group of the CSU and Free Voters. In an emergency application, an amendment to the green space statute is required. All multi-week cultural and stand events that have a commercial character should in future be subject to a fee. In addition, the organizers of such events should bear all costs.
