The airport therefore assumes, according to its own statements, that “no regular passenger flights can take place at BER”. Around 300 take-offs and landings with a total of 35,000 passengers were planned for Wednesday. Verdi said on Monday that a very large turnout was expected. “It is likely that all air traffic to and from Berlin will be affected by the strike on Wednesday.” Passengers should expect severe delays and flight cancellations. “The strike will take place all day long at the beginning of the morning shift and will end late in the evening,” Verdi announced. The airport operator spoke of the period from 3:30 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. According to the union, the reason for the industrial action is the parallel wage rounds.
