The world-famous street artist Banksy apparently immortalized himself in Ukraine. on his Instagram channel he published on Friday evening a picture of a work on a destroyed house in the heavily devastated city of Borodyanka. On the gray wall, a girl appears to be doing a handstand on rubble.
Posting it on Banksy’s Instagram channel is usually taken as a sign that he acknowledges a work as his own. His identity is unknown to this day.
Another work on a ruin in Borodjanka: A child defeats a figure reminiscent of Putin in his sport of judo. Whether it was created by Banksy is unclear.

The small town of Borodyanka is located about 30 kilometers north-west of Kyiv. Russian troops occupied the city shortly after invading Ukraine, but then withdrew from there in early April.
Banksy has also traveled to crisis areas in the past, including the West Bank. Other works reminiscent of his style have surfaced in Ukraine. Whether they come from him is not certain.

Whoever created them: What the graffiti have in common is a hopeful, self-confident imagery that is particularly intense against the background of destruction. In one picture, a child throws a figure who at least resembles Russian President Vladimir Putin to the ground while doing judo, in another a figure dances with a bolt upright posture.
