Straßlach – snow fences should make state road 2072 safer – district of Munich

Heavy snowfalls and strong winds regularly lead to heavy snowdrifts on the state road 2072 in Straßlach-Dingharting, as was the case last November when several serious traffic accidents happened at wind speeds of more than 80 kilometers per hour. The CSU local organization got through to the Bavarian Transport Minister Kerstin Schreyer (CSU) with this problem, and she has now promised to put up snow fences to remedy the situation. In her reply, the minister assured that the road maintenance department responsible would closely monitor the section of road over the winter and reassess the need for a snow guard after the end of the current winter service season, according to a press release from the CSU local association. In his opinion, a major reason for the snowdrifts is the fact that the competent Freising State Building Authority no longer erects snow guard fences at exposed points on the state road. He hopes that the inspection by the road maintenance department will yield the desired result, according to the press release by deputy CSU local chairman Martin Doll, “since traffic safety on the roads in our community is very important to us”.
