Netflix has released the first trailer for Season 4 of Stranger Things. What can the fans expect? Everything and more.

The start date of the fourth season of “Stranger Things” has been set for a while. But only now has Netflix released a first XXL trailer for the new episodes, which will be available on the streaming service from May 27, 2022. And it makes it clear why the season has been a good three years away. A lot is offered in the preview, which is just over three minutes long – from the new, this time humanoid main enemy to a mini appearance by Mister Horror himself: Robert Englund (74) aka Freddy Krueger!

So do the main characters

“You destroyed everything. Your suffering is almost over,” whispers a somber voice at the beginning of the trailer. Then the perspective changes to Max Hargrove (Sadie Sink, 19), who mourns at the grave of her big brother Billy. About half a year has passed since the events of the third season in which he lost his life. “Since you’ve been gone, everything has been an absolute disaster,” you can hear her say.

The clip also provides first insights into the fate of Jim Hopper (David Harbour, 47), who was believed dead. He’s still in a Soviet prison, apparently having to fight alongside other prisoners in bloody arena battles against Demogorgons.

Meanwhile, Hopper’s foster daughter Elf (Millie Bobby Brown, 18) gets Paul Reiser’s (66) character Dr. Sam Owens that she holds the fate of everyone in Hawkins, and possibly the world, in her hands. “We can’t win this war without you” – just stupid that Elf seems to have lost her supernatural powers.

More insights from the trailer

There is so much show value in the trailer that it’s almost impossible to summarize them all. It seems certain that a mysterious grandfather clock as well as a spooky house will play a central role.

Speaking of spooky: If you blink briefly, you will miss the appearance of a true horror icon. With scarred, purulent eyes, Robert Englund can also be spotted for a split second – the actor who wrote horror history as Freddy Krueger almost 40 years ago with “Nightmare on Elm Street”. As for his part in “Stranger Things,” it’s known that he plays a murderer named Victor Creel who has been in a mental institution for decades – how fitting…

In the last scene, the trailer shows what appears to be the new main villain of season four. Contrary to the previous Demogorgons from the parallel world, the new evil this time has a very human body and is a bit reminiscent of the Night King from “Game of Thrones”.

“The beginning of the end”

The first part of the new episodes will be available on Netflix from May 27th. The second part will follow on July 1st. In a statement from the Duffer brothers Matt and Ross, who produce the series, it was revealed in February this year that the show will have a fifth season but will be the last.
