Florian Silbereisen actually wants to present a live show from Austria with pop hits on ARD. But the weather isn’t playing along.

Heavy rainfall in Kitzbühel, Austria, has affected the broadcast of the The ARD live broadcast “Schlagerbooom Open Air” with Florian Silbereisen was prevented from airing on Das Erste. Instead, the dress rehearsal of the show, which had been pre-recorded the day before, was broadcast on Saturday evening from 8:15 p.m.

At the beginning, a message was displayed on television for viewers to inform them that the event was a recording due to the weather conditions. “It rained heavily in Kitzbühel today from 8 p.m.,” said Peter Dreckmann, head of entertainment at the responsible public broadcaster Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR), in the evening.

“We were prepared for this and recorded the entire show for the first time on Friday evening, with 6,000 spectators in the stadium in good weather,” he continued. “In order to give the TV audience at home a nice evening with beautiful images, we decided to broadcast the recording from the previous day.” According to MDR, ARD wanted to broadcast live from Kitzbühel again “should the weather improve and the technology cooperate.”

According to the APA news agency, authorities had warned of severe weather in parts of Tyrol on Saturday. No serious damage was reported there until Sunday morning.
