The flood situation in Bavaria has continued to calm down. The weather service is predicting severe weather in southern Bavaria, but this should no longer be a problem. The maps below show the current weather situation.

After the floods, the flood situation in large parts of Bavaria has continued to ease. The German Weather Service (DWD) has announced storms and rain in parts of the state, but the situation is expected to calm down further over the weekend. The water level of the Danube also fell at most measuring stations during the night on Saturday – and is expected to continue to do so, as the flood information service predicted.

The flooding caused by the floods is a problem in Kelheim, among other places, but the dams are holding, said a police spokesman on Saturday. The same is true in Straubing and Passau. Experts expect the water level of the Danube in Straubing to fall below warning level 3 by the evening. The city announced that the declared disaster will end on Saturday afternoon. In Passau, the warning level 3 will remain for the time being.

The situation is also calming down in Upper Palatinate: In Regensburg, the water levels had already fallen below warning level 2 overnight. Residents of a particularly threatened street were allowed to return to their homes on Friday. The security measures in Werftstrasse, which is particularly at risk from the floods, have now been completed, said a spokeswoman for the city on Saturday morning. The extent to which the street was damaged still needs to be investigated. No further measures are planned for the time being. The flood protection elements will remain in place for the time being despite the water level of the Danube continuing to fall. And the declared state of emergency should not be lifted for the time being either.

The DWD expected thunderstorms and rain up to and including Monday – especially in the south. On Saturday there could also be severe weather with heavy rain of up to 40 liters per square meter, gusts of up to 100 kilometers per hour and hail. The experts from the flood intelligence service nevertheless see no reason for a new warning: “The amount of rain is not relevant in the area,” they said. Although water levels could rise, only warning levels 1 and 2 were initially expected.

Regions marked in orange are medium flood reports, yellow dots are minor flooding. In the dashed areas there is an advance warning from the responsible authorities. In green regions you can breathe a sigh of relief. An all-clear has been issued here. There is no warning in white areas. No data can currently be collected for North Rhine-Westphalia. The data comes from the comprehensive flood portal of the states, the map is updated automatically. Weather map IV: Thunderstorm warnings for today

The map above shows the DWD’s thunderstorm warnings for today. It is a binary weather map, meaning that places for which there is a thunderstorm warning are colored red. No coloring means no warning.
