Small in size, around 3.50 meters and in honor of a Franco-Swiss engineer from the town, Maurice Koechlin. It was he who had submitted the idea of a metal tower to Gustave Eiffel in 1884.

“With us, the school also bears his name and the children pass in front of the tower every day”, explains to 20 minutes the mayor of Buhl Yves Coquelle, who quickly filed a complaint. “This disappearance really touched us to the heart. It was on the night of Saturday 13th to Sunday 14th November.

A full week later, the monument was discovered by a passer-by, this Monday morning “vineyard path in Guebwiller”. “The gendarmes called me around 6:30 am, it’s a fairly busy road, the thieves wanted to get rid of it,” continues the Alsatian city councilor, surprised to find the Eiffel Tower so close. “I really didn’t expect local people to do this. “

The work was found in two pieces, without any irreparable damage being detected. “Only the light circuit is degraded. There are repairs for 750 euros, ”announces Yves Coquelle, who hopes that the Eiffel Tower will find its place by Saint-Nicolas at the beginning of December.
