A new wave of selling on the technology-heavy US stock exchange Nasdaq on Friday caused growing caution among investors in Germany. The leading German index slipped back below the 16,000 point mark.

At lunchtime, the Dax lost 0.75 percent to 15,911.34 points, which means that there are now signs of a minus for the current week. The MDax fell by 0.48 percent to 34,626.46 points, while the leading euro zone index EuroStoxx 50 fell by 0.88 percent.

Among the German individual values, the focus was in particular on Europe’s larger software manufacturer SAP with key figures and an initial outlook for the new year. The share, which had risen by 2.5 percent in the morning, recently fell by 1.2 percent. Due to high investments, SAP is currently assuming for 2022 that the operating result will only remain stable at best. At the same time, the lower end of the forecast range signals a decline of up to 5 percent. Software AG’s shares were also noticeably weak, down 2.8 percent to EUR 32.14.

The first figures for the fourth quarter were also available from Wacker Chemie the evening before. Due to high prices and good demand in the past financial year, the specialty chemicals company earned more operationally than expected. The stocks took the top in the MDax, rising 4.3 percent.

The Deutsche Bank fund subsidiary DWS also commented on its final quarter, which helped the share in the SDax to rise by 3.5 percent. DWS was also the top value in the index. The asset manager expects a surprisingly good annual result due to higher fee income.
