On September 1st, Stefan Schmaus becomes chancellor of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich. Most recently, he was Managing Director of the August Everding Theater Academy, with which the university often cooperates. The law graduate succeeds Alexander Krause, who will retire in the summer after 25 years as chancellor. Schmaus can be quoted at the beginning as a hopeful optimist: “I am very much looking forward to being able to help shape this university as an important source for young artists in the coming years. But above all I am looking forward to working with the entire team of the university family , to master all upcoming challenges together. The pandemic in particular has shown how important art and culture are for society.”
