Stefan Raab produces new celebrity RTL show – including “Crashes and Pain”

With “American Ice Football” RTL is getting in the mood for the Super Bowl in February 2024. Stefan Raab produces the show and the sporting event is moderated by Elton.
On February 11th, the two best teams of the season in the North American football league NFL will meet in Super Bowl LVIII. To get you in the mood for the US sporting event of the year RTL will be a special highlight in the program next year. The “American Ice Football” gets down to business on February 11, 2024 from 8:15 p.m. when four teams made up of German celebrities enter the ice arena in Mannheim.

All in all, 30 previously unintroduced celebrities from Germany “venture onto the toughest playing field in the world and play American football on ice,” as RTL announced on Wednesday. The players wear “treadless bowling shoes and football protective clothing”. Like American football, the goal of the game is to score a touchdown.

However, given the slippery surface and special footwear, some falls and flying by the celebrity players are to be expected – similar to the “German Ice Football Cup” held in 2009 and 2015, which was still broadcast on ProSieben at the time. According to RTL, “crash and pain” are said to be “the least likely evil of this evening”. As with the professional Super Bowl in the USA, there will also be a “spectacular halftime show” in the RTL Arena.
Joint public viewing at the Super Bowl
Following “American Ice Football”, the 10,000 guests announced by RTL will watch Super Bowl LVIII together in the SAP Arena in Mannheim. This is likely to be the largest public viewing of the sporting event in Germany. RTL will broadcast the Super Bowl on German television in 2024. The broadcast is expected to start after “American Ice Football”.
The show competition format will be moderated by all-purpose weapon Elton, who will be moderating the third full-length show for RTL after “Disgrace or Cash” and “Beat the Best”. Behind “American Ice Football” is producer Stefan Raab and his company Raab TV. The show event is created in cooperation with Brainpool.
