A deportation song was sung at the AfD election party in Brandenburg. The leadership of the AfD considered this to be unproblematic. But there are consequences.
In order to avoid future contractual penalties, “we are obliged to refrain from combining, reproducing, publicly reproducing, publicly performing the text of the “deportation song” in question”, parts or modifications of it with the composition “That’s going on” or with film works Springer said in the letter on Monday.
Young AfD supporters sing deportation song
On the evening of the state elections on September 22nd, several young AfD supporters sang a song about deportations at the AfD election party in Potsdam.
To the melody of the song “That’s going on. We’re partying all night long” by the band Die Atzen, they sang: “Hey, that’s going on, we’re pushing them all away, pushing them all away”. They held up a board with the inscription “Deport millions of times”. The police had announced that they were investigating suspicions of sedition.
Springer now wrote that a law firm had asked the regional association to submit a binding cease-and-desist declaration that was punishable by penalty. In the event of a violation of such a declaration, severe contractual penalties would be due.
Warning of legal costs
In the worst case, legal costs estimated at up to 36,000 euros would be incurred, the state chief warned. In the event of violations, “in the worst case scenario, the regional association would have to hold harmless the members involved.”
At the time, the AfD leadership considered the song to be unproblematic. After the election party, state leader Springer said that this behavior by members of the Junge Alternative was relatively harmless compared to the demands of the SPD party youth regarding abortions. The song was part of the election campaign of the youth organization Junge Alternative. Federal Chairman Tino Chrupalla said that young people “have a right to party wildly”.
The rappers Die Atzen reacted with a post on Instagram: “The only ones who are allowed to rewrite our song are the Hertha BSC Ostkurve and Spongebob.”
