Starnberg: results and impressions from the Landkreis – Starnberg

“The atmosphere was terrific. Even the last runners were enthusiastically cheered on in the drizzle.” The magic of the rural circuit, the largest popular sports event in the Five Lakes Region, has also come into play in its 38th edition, as organizer Markus Lübbe from the district office sums up. In 154 teams, each with six runners, professional and recreational athletes set out on the route around Andechs Monastery on Saturday, organized by TSV Erling-Andechs. The fastest team only needed a good hour and a half for the 26.6 kilometer distance – others twice as long. “Everyone had fun, that’s much more important,” said Lübbe. Observations from the edge of the course and active runners:

Powerful governor

The good thing when you’re a bit close: You have to warm up right away. And so District Administrator Stefan Frey (CSU) just seconds before the start signal jogs his way into the front row of the runners. But at least, and that’s what ultimately counts, but still in time before the significant twelve o’clock ringing of the church bells in Andechs Monastery. There was a bit of a chat before the start of the round, which was scheduled for exactly noon, says Christoph Winkelkötter, head of the business development agency GWT, who apparently played a key role in the district administrator’s forced warm-up program. Apparently, the little bit of hectic at the beginning did not harm the performance of the district administrator. Frey stays under 26 minutes on the long 5.4 kilometer loop.

Worst start

The start is the most important thing. The race is often decided here, they say. For starting runners, that’s quite a pressure! Especially if you are quite far behind in the group at the starting line. When the gun goes off, there are kicks from behind and shoving in front – what a mess! The pros have long rushed towards the top positions – after all, the start is the most important thing!

Harder than expected

A blessing that there are no doping controls at the rural circuit. Otherwise, the concentrated mixture of aspirin complex, hot lemon, headache pills, nasal spray, throat drops and yogi tea that strengthens women might have been a bad thing for some chain dog of a bad-tempered official. Despite the chemical fireworks in the body, the 4.3 kilometers are torture. The legs lead, the lungs scream. That should actually be easier!

Fast kids

“It’s all in your head” – this saying is often heard when it comes to top sporting performance. It is well known that ambition and motivation are more important than strength and endurance. This is proven above all by the many children in the rural circuit, who put the adults under a lot of pressure. The Andechser Klostermäuse, the Starnberger Minis, the Wörthsee rockets or the Kraxeltrolle: They were numerous and ran away from many older ones. “Mom where are you staying?” it was said, for example, of a little young runner who had competed with her mother, who obviously couldn’t keep up with her daughter.

The results: Among the mixed teams, the SV Inning won with the “Outdoor 1” group with 1:57.28, with the children’s teams “The true Breitbrunner” of the SF Breitbrunn with 2:14.41. The teams from LG Würm Athletics dominated in the ranking of the women’s and men’s teams, the women needed 1:51.54, the men 1:32.43. “Compact Dynamics” won the category for companies and authorities with a time of 1:57.27, while the first men’s team from the district youth association in Regen was ahead of the guest teams with a time of 1:44.48.
