Disney+ is showing a new “Star Wars” series. Rosario Dawson takes on the titular lead role in “Ahsoka.” When does it start exactly?

With “Star Wars: Ahsoka”, Disney+ will show a new live-action series from the popular sci-fi universe in just a few weeks. As the streaming service announced in a new TV spot, fans can take a look from August 23. The clip was also published on YouTube.

What is Star Wars: Ahsoka about?

The upcoming series is set after the fall of the Empire. The focus is on the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano, played by Rosario Dawson (44). Ahsoka must investigate “an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy,” according to Disney.

While Dawson takes on the lead role, Mary Elizabeth Winstead (38) will star as Hera Syndulla, Doctor Who star David Tennant (52) as Huyang, Natasha Liu Bordizzo (28) as Sabine Wren and Lars Mikkelsen (59) as the Grand Admiral Thrawn. Ray Stevenson (1964-2023), who recently died unexpectedly at the age of 58, took on the role of Baylan Skoll for the production. Hayden Christensen (42) is said to be there as Anakin Skywalker, like the industry magazine “The Hollywood Reporter” already reported in 2021.

Other “Star Wars” series are also currently in the making, including “The Acolyte” with Amandla Stenberg (24) and “Skeleton Crew” with Jude Law (50). Work is currently underway on a second season for “Andor”. At the moment there is no release date known for any of the mentioned productions. The third season of The Mandalorian just came out a few weeks ago.
