Sriram Sami developed an app to track down hidden cameras – media

A criminal practice is spreading from South Korea: “Molka”, the filming of the private parts with small, hidden cameras. The computer scientist Sriram Sami has developed an app against it. How does it work? A conversation.

In South Korea, tens of thousands of women demonstrated in 2018 with the words “My life is not your porn” against pinhead-sized cameras that voyeurs install in public toilets, changing rooms and hotel rooms. The crime is known there as “Molka” – for mole camera, so mole camera – and is spreading more and more. The computer scientist Sriram Sami from the National University of Singapore has developed an app to track down the hidden cameras.
