South Koreans do not assume intent
About 20 to 30 soldiers penetrated about 20 meters into the demilitarized zone, but returned to the north after the warning shots from the south, said a spokesman for the South Korean Armed Forces General Staff. However, it is not assumed that the soldiers intentionally penetrated the south. South Korea had already fired warning shots on June 11 after North Koreans briefly crossed the border.
