Sophie von Wessex attended a military competition named after her. She tried her hand at clay pigeon shooting, among other things.

Sophie von Wessex (58), the wife of Prince Edward (58), completed a special appointment on February 7th. She attended “The Countess of Wessex Cup”, which was named after her. At the annual competition, members of military regiments and organizations where Sophie holds honorary titles take on a variety of tasks.

The competition was held at Gibraltar Barracks in Camberley, England, in 2023. As in previous years, Sophie wore a military look to match the event. Today, Tuesday, she wore a camouflage parka and a green cap with khaki jeans. Some pictures show Sophie von Wessex focused on clay pigeon shooting, among other things. On others, she is clearly in a good mood when talking to the soldiers present and their commanders.

Photos from the past few years also show that the 58-year-old obviously enjoys attending the event – perhaps also because things are not always dead serious, even if one could assume this against the military background. In 2021 the participants stepped according to the British Royal Air Force not only in physically demanding tasks, they should also build miniature “rocket cars”. The soldiers and Sophie also proved themselves among other things in an older video racing game.

Sophie von Wessex is, among other things, Colonel-in-Chief of two Canadian and two British regiments, Honorary Air Commodore of the Royal Air Force Wittering and Royal Colonel of the 5th Battalion of the Rifles, a British infantry regiment.
