Sonya Kraus
She was afraid of becoming a zombie
Sonya Kraus suffered from breast cancer. Now she talks about her experience with chemotherapy. She was afraid of becoming a zombie.
The moderator Sonya Kraus (48) has in one remarkable Instagram video made her breast cancer public. Now she gives in an interview with “RTL exclusive” further details of her illness known. When doctors informed her of the diagnosis in the fall, it was a “crazy feeling” for her, says Kraus in an interview. It’s like “the air pressure is going down and it’s getting really heavy and humid and warm and hot and cold at the same time”.
After the tumor was discovered during a check-up at the gynecologist, she immediately decided to have both breasts removed. The operation took place in November, during which her breast was reconstructed with silicone at the same time. Now she is currently undergoing voluntary chemotherapy to be on the safe side.
Sonya Kraus: “Chemo means you become a zombie”
“Chemo was really such a monster for me that I thought: Chemo means you become a zombie,” says Kraus. She notices how her body is full of medicine, but she didn’t throw up. In addition, she can “probably keep a large part” of her hair and is full of energy. She is doing “perfectly well”.
Her good mood is sometimes not easy to understand, especially for those around her: “I’ve also felt a little bit that I sometimes run over, shock and baffle people with the way I deal with my illness.”
