Many young people in particular dream of becoming famous and rich with YouTube or Instagram. But the social media business is complex, has long been occupied by professionals – and takes a lot of work.
Sometimes becoming an influencer is easy. Janna Bardewyck logged on to Instagram in 2014 to exchange photos with her brother, who was then living abroad. Shortly thereafter, she got a young dog. She regularly posted – now publicly visible – photos of Frida, a small beagle, for her circle of friends and acquaintances. More and more people liked the photos. Just one year later, around 15,000 people followed the “fridabeagle” channel, and the first advertising inquiries from companies began to pour in. Today the channel has 45,000 followers.
