Slow down at the end of traffic jams – car & mobile

Traffic jams are at their peak during the holiday season. But especially just before the traffic comes to a standstill, it can be dangerous. The Auto Club Europa (ACE) recommends that anyone driving towards the end of a traffic jam should slow down immediately but evenly and switch on the hazard warning lights immediately. If you brake unnecessarily hard or change lanes risky, you risk a rear-end collision. If you are approaching the end of the traffic jam or are already standing, you should keep looking in the rear-view mirror, according to the ACE: Did the people behind also recognize the danger and brake? If this does not happen, it is still possible to react quickly in an emergency. Important for this: Always leave enough space to the vehicle in front, so that there is still room to move onto the hard shoulder, for example. And: The emergency lane must be formed even when traffic is slow and walking pace.
