For several years there have been watches and other trackers that register the heart rate and movements during sleep and then evaluate how much deep sleep, dream sleep, etc. you had. From my point of view a gimmick for good sleepers. Because the information that last week I slept an average of 17 minutes less per night and seven percent less in deep sleep than in the current week only blurs the view of this fact: There is no biological marker, no laboratory value that can be measured, to measure the quality of sleep. How bad we perceive it as always depends on our evaluation. That’s why sleeping is always a matter of the mind.
