Germany is sweating and the heat wave has the country in its grip. During the day you can cool off with a dip in a bathing lake or with an ice cream. At night, however, many are currently struggling with sleep problems. However, there are a few tips on how to make the nights a little more relaxing.

  1. It is best to air the bedroom early in the morning. During the day it is advisable to close the windows and draw the shutters or curtains.
  2. Instead of beer or other ice-cold drinks, warm herbal tea should be drunk in the evening. Then the body does not have to expend any energy to bring the drink up to body temperature.
  3. It can be nice to take a lukewarm shower right before bed. It is refreshing to hold your wrists under cool water afterwards.
  4. Sleepwear made of cotton, linen or silk can be placed in the refrigerator two hours before bedtime. If you put them on right before bedtime, they’re nice and cool.
  5. A damp cloth on the forehead cools the head and may make sleep easier. Be careful with air conditioners or fans. There is a risk of tension or even a cold.
  6. It can also be helpful to hang a wet bed sheet by the open window. It extracts heat from the environment through evaporation, the air cools down. If you follow these tips, you should be able to sleep better in hot weather.
