Skyscrapers in Munich: “buffer zone” around the Olympic Park because of World Heritage – Munich

In order not to jeopardize the World Heritage application, no new high-rise buildings are to be built there for the time being. This is what a revised study by the city envisages. But there could be an exception 88 meters high.

A “buffer zone” without new high-rise buildings is to be designated around the Olympic Park in order not to jeopardize the application for World Heritage status. This is one of the major changes in the revised high-rise study of the state capital of Munich. The “Olympic Park with surroundings” is classified as a “room with increased sensitivity”. This is based on the draft resolution, which has not yet been published, in which the planning department presents the current status of the “High-rise Study 2023”. In the north, the area mentioned extends to the north ring road of Deutsche Bahn, in the west to Hanauer Strasse, in the south to Schwere-Reiter-Strasse and in the east to Schleißheimer Strasse.
