Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor mourns her 17-year-old son
Singer Sinéad O’Connor’s son disappeared two days ago. The 17-year-old Shane has been missing since then. Now his body has been found.
Irish pop singer Sinéad O’Connor mourns the loss of her 17-year-old son Shane. The British news agency PA reported on Saturday, citing the environment of the 55-year-old artist.
The Irish police also confirmed that a body had been found in the town of Wicklow, south of Dublin, and a call for clues about the whereabouts of the youngster, who had been missing on Thursday, had been ended.
Sinéad O’Connor mourns her son
On an unverified Twitter account attributed to O’Connor, poignant lines could be read: “My wonderful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the light of my life, decided today to end his earthly struggle and is now with God. May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be in peace. “
Shortly after the terrible news, she also tweeted a Bob Marley song that she dedicated to her son. She wrote, “This is for my Shaney. The light of my life. The lamp of my soul. My blue-eyed baby. You will always be my light. We will always be together. No boundary can separate us.”
The 17-year-old had been missing since Thursday. Apparently he was previously housed in a hospital. That at least suggests another tweet from the singer, who – after Shane disappeared – threatened a hospital with social media lawsuits if “anything happens to my son,” claiming her son disappeared from the hospital he was in supposedly around the clock should have been supervised.
She became world famous with “Nothing Compares 2 U”
Shane was one of four children of the Irish singer who became world famous in 1990 with the hit “Nothing Compares 2 U”. With controversial appearances and statements, O’Connor repeatedly attracted attention, for example she tore up an image of Pope John Paul II in front of running cameras during an appearance on the US program “Saturday Night Live” in 1992. In 2018, she converted to Islam and changed hers Names in Shuhada ‘Davitt.
The name Shuhada ‘is the plural of the Arabic word for martyr and a common female given name. It’s not the singer’s first name change. O’Connor previously called himself Magda Davitt. She is known for her willingness to experiment spiritually. In 1999 she made headlines when she was ordained a priestess by a Catholic faction. At that time she wanted to be called Mother Bernadette Mary. Again and again, O’Connor had to struggle with psychological difficulties. In June of this year, the 55-year-old published her memoir under the title “Rememberings”.
