Shockingly little has changed since the Rana Plaza disaster – the economy

Ten years ago, a large garment factory in Bangladesh collapsed, killing more than a thousand people. The industry has vowed to improve, but many workers in the poor country are still working in miserable conditions.

It is considered a great sin of global capitalism: ten years ago, the Rana Plaza building near Dhaka, in Bangladesh, collapsed, burying many people, 1,132 of them died. Some of the more than 2,500 injured could only be recovered by having their limbs amputated. The image of a woman found dead in the rubble and dust in the arms of a man went around the world. It became a warning sign for what happens when you look for a price advantage at the expense of occupational safety in distant countries.
