The “Villa Vie Odyssey” was stuck in Belfast, Northern Ireland, for four months. Now the cruise ship’s journey is about to begin – some passengers want to travel the world’s oceans for years.

A After a forced break of several months, the cruise ship is finally set to begin its journey in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The “Villa Vie Odyssey” is scheduled to travel around the world for three years – four months late after repair work, as the British news agency PA reported.

Shortly after setting off, however, the ship did not get far. The cruise ship left the port on Tuesday night and had to return due to administrative matters, reported PA and BBC.

According to the Guardian newspaper, most of the passengers come from the USA. Some arrived in May and were then stranded in Belfast. They found other accommodation or decided to use the time to travel, the newspaper wrote.

The ship trip is advertised as an ongoing cruise. Passengers can rent cabins for a specific period of time or buy them outright. For example, purchase prices of 120,000 or 350,000 US dollars are stated on the website (110,000/315,000 euros).

While waiting in Belfast, two passengers became closer, the PA news agency reported: a man from Canada and a woman from the USA had gotten to know each other better in the past few months and are now engaged.
