Prince Harry’s statements in a trailer for the second part of the Netflix documentary cause a stir. Lady Diana “would be appalled,” says an expert.
A new trailer The second part of the Netflix documentary “Harry & Meghan” is here and brings Prince Harry (38) a lot of criticism. One statement in particular causes a stir. “They were willing to lie to protect my brother. They were never willing to tell the truth to protect us,” says the 38-year-old. Does he indicate a conflict with his brother Prince William (40) and the palace? A Royal expert said after the clip was released that Harry’s mother Diana (1961-1997) was “appalled”.
However, it is not clear in the short clip who Harry accuses of lying. It is possible that the statement is directed against the British tabloid press and not against the palace. Sources close to Harry and his wife Duchess Meghan (41) said according to The Telegraphthe Duke’s comments would be put into context when the next episodes air on Thursday (December 15).
Is the brothers’ relationship “ruined”?
Former BBC journalist and author Tom Bower (76) says according to the “Daily Mail”, Harry’s collaboration with Netflix “destroyed his relationship with William”. He also rejected the other hints in the trailer that the security measures for Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan were reduced. Bower, who has written several books about the royals, called it “shockingly untrue”.
Meghan says in the new trailer: “Our security was lifted. Everyone in the world knew where we were.” She was not thrown to the wolves, “I was fed to the wolves”. However, it remains unclear in the trailer what period of time the Duchess of Sussex is talking about.
Bower also claims William and Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, “would be appalled” by Harry’s disloyalty, according to the paper. “This rupture is worrying not only for William and King Charles, but also for the country.” The image of the fighting brothers is terrible for “Britain’s global reputation”.
What’s coming in part two of “Harry & Meghan”?
Even if the statements in the new trailer may be in a different context – it seems clear that part two of the Netflix documentary will be uncomfortable for the British royal family. The first three episodes, which aired last Thursday, concluded with Harry and Meghan’s wedding preparations in May 2018. The new episodes are now expected to detail the drama within the royal family surrounding the couple’s departure from the UK. The British newspaper “The Times” wrote, citing a palace insiderafter the broadcast of part one of the documentary, part two will probably be “like poison” for the royals.
